Tampon questions please answer?

Okay sirious answers only but I wear playtex sport tampons and I was in the pool at a hotle the other day and I had a tampon inand when I came in there was I redish pinkish spotbon my swin suit. So what happened? Do I need a bigger tampon? Would that even help? And alo question number 2 I know that you aren't soposed to leave a tampon in too long? So how long is the longest you can leave one in? And would it matter if you take one put and then like 5 seconds later I put a new one in??please help
