Are backpacks by "outdoor" good?

Recently, my backpack for school has started to fall apart. So I've decided to get a new backpack. As i browse around through stores and shops, I come across several outdoor backpacks. My question is, are these backpacks suited for school uses? Are they very durable? Thanks in advance.
